What is the “Las Hijas de Ada” event about
(San José, March 1st, 2024) In an effort to promote the inclusion and empowerment of women in the field of technology, the YOD Foundation will hold the “Las Hijas de Ada” event, an activity designed to offer networking, learning, and professional growth opportunities to women working in this sector.
“Las Hijas de Ada” is an event that aims to celebrate the legacy of Ada Lovelace, an English mathematician who is considered the first computer programmer. Lovelace was a visionary woman who made significant contributions to the development of technology.
“This event is specifically aimed at professional women working in the field of technology, even if they are not necessarily in computer science. It is the first edition of an annual event that brings together women from various disciplines within technology to share knowledge, experiences, and foster peer collaboration,” commented Paula Brenes of the YOD Foundation.
“Las Hijas de Ada” will take place on March 19th at Texas Tech University, in Avenida Escazú, and will feature a combination of talks, workshops, and networking activities. Participants will share their experiences, ideas, and best practices to inspire and empower attendees to achieve their professional goals in a field historically dominated by men.
“We are very excited about this event, which will provide a space where women participating in it can meet other women, strengthen their network of alliances, feel supported, and empowered,” said Paula Brenes of the YOD Foundation, who added that this non-profit organization firmly believes that by promoting diversity and inclusion in this industry, innovation can be fostered, and a safer future can be built for everyone.
